The following guidelines/criteria are dictated by the National Football Foundation:

Be a high school senior in a college preparatory program
Have earned a minimum 2.5 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale
Demonstrate superior academic application and performance as a team player
Demonstrate outstanding leadership and citizenship in school and his community
